British Shorthair Price in the Netherlands
The Netherlands has a knowledgeable and active British Shorthair community. Prices reflect the high standards many Dutch buyers expect regarding health testing.
Price Range in the Netherlands
British Shorthair kitten prices in the Netherlands typically range from €1,700 to €2,900.
- Pet quality: €1,700 – €2,300
- Show or breeder quality: €2,400 – €2,900
- Rare colors: often €2,600+
Prices in the Randstad area (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) tend to be higher.
Factors That Affect Price
- Color and pattern
- Health testing performed on the parents (especially HCM echocardiogram and PKD DNA)
- Pedigree quality
- Breeder experience and guarantees
Breeders who invest in regular cardiac screening and genetic testing usually price their kittens higher.
What Is Typically Included
Most ethical breeders provide:
- Vaccinations
- Microchip
- Pedigree papers
- Official FIFe/WCF pedigree & veterinary health protocol
Importing from Other European Catteries
Some buyers in the Netherlands import kittens from Germany, Belgium, or further afield. Kittens from Grand Liberty shipped to the Netherlands generally fall in the €2,200 – €2,900 range including professional transport.
Advice
Always request documentation of the parents' HCM ultrasound results and PKD DNA tests. Be cautious of prices significantly below €1,500, as they frequently indicate insufficient health testing.
